2 Styling Products To Help You Look Great In Quarantine

by Elyse V

Spending time on your appearance for many of us is a form of practising self care. One of the (minor) inconveniences of the ongoing pandemic has been having to let our regular hair appointments slide. In the grand scheme of things, it was an easy sacrifice to make given what’s been going on. For this reason, DIY grooming was one of the ideas in our new kinder and gentler New Year’s Resolutions. To help with this, I thought that I’d share 2 hair styling products to help you look great in quarantine.

It’s been about 15 months since we’ve been to a salon, so we were dealing with over-growth and split ends. I needed to figure out how to cut men’s hair, deal with split ends and make hair look polished for Zoom meetings and FaceTime calls. My hunt lead me to 2 outstanding products that I am reviewing today: the Woner Cordless Rechargeable Clippers and the Dyson Airwrap Styler Complete.

Woner Cordless Rechargeable Clippers

I did my clipper research when trying to find out how to cut men’s hair. This clipper comes with hair dressing scissors (a bonus for me so I can I cut my split ends), comb, travel case, oil for blade, tiny brush to clean the hairs out, and 9 guards to help you get different lengths when cutting. What I didn’t know is that it came with a set of angled guards labelled left and right, which help with blending – something I previously had trouble achieving.

I have never cut anyone’s hair or had the desire to try before it became a necessity and I was low-key terrified. However with the help of a plethora of online videos I watched and these awesome clippers it wasn’t a bad experience. My haircuts came out even, and the men looked like they had been to their barber. So, overall we were thrilled with how this product worked. Not to mention the scissors that came with it were great. I was able to trim my split ends and my mom’s split ends.

Dyson Airwrap Styler Complete

First, let’s address the elephant in the room, this is a costly investment product. I had been looking at it for a while, but wouldn’t buy it for myself. However, I was lucky to get it for Christmas. The Dyson Airwarp Styler Complete replaces a number of hot tools. If you are at the point where you need a new brush straightener, hair dryer, and/or curling iron you may want to try this. Instead of paying a hefty price for multiple products you can pool that money into this one.

So what does it come with?

Two 30mm Airwrap barrels, two 40mm Airwrap barrels, a firm smoothing brush, a soft smoothing brush, a round volumising brush, and pre-styling dryer.

This product is worth every single penny. I’m all thumbs when it comes to curling and this product has made it easy to achieve new and different looks. The smoothing brushes give you a blow out look in minutes. I have long fine wavy hair midway down my back. It would take me at least 15 minutes to dry my hair and and another 15 to straighten it for an everyday look. It would need serious touch ups or a redo if going out at night. With the Dyson I can dry and achieve a blowout look that lasts all day in under 15 minutes.

Have I mastered the Dyson yet? Honestly no. I know I can improve my curling techniques and make even better use of the brushes, but I’m super impressed by where I am. I don’t see myself going to get just a blowout for a special occasion; as I can now achieve the same look at home in minutes. I know I’ve paid upwards of $40 to a random blowdryer bar and been underwhelmed by the results – never again. Yes, this is an investment, but in the long run it may save you money.

With the help of these 2 styling products, you can still look put together until you can safely go back to the salon. These products will help you achieve great looks on your own or with the help of a buddy.
