It’s always exciting to try something new, rediscover an old favourite, or just take some time to appreciate the products you love. That is why every month, I share with you 4 of my current favourite beauty products. This allows me to highlight some truly fantastic items, and to let you know what works for me, and what’s worth spending your money on. Today, I’m sharing with you 4 of my current favourite beauty products – the August 2021 edition.
On this month’s list, there is a mix of perennial favourites, new products that are great (all year-round) and some that are perfect just for summer, because we want this summer feeling to last as long as it possibly can. This shows that your makeup and skincare can always be evolving. Especially with your skincare, as it’s great to change things up or rotate products. By doing this your skin doesn’t get too used to any one product, making it less effective.
4 Of My Current Favourite Beauty Products – August 2021 Edition:
Let me start this off by saying this product is a splurge. So, if you are looking for something luxurious to add to your skincare routine, or to gift something special to someone that they wouldn’t buy themselves, then this is the product for you. This hyaluronic serum is so thick you don’t need to use more than a few drops, not even a whole dropper full, to cover your face and neck. Rubbed into your skin, post-cleansing, toning, applying other serum’s, and before your moisturizer, it helps to lock in moisture and plump your skin. Wow, does this hyaluronic serum deliver! I received this in a gift set, and was super impressed with this product, which was new to me. This is a splurge that your skin will thank you for.
Well, bronzer is a year-round product, but I tend to wear it more… let’s just say liberally, in the summer. While this is a moderately priced bronzer, it lasts. You will be shocked at how much you will get out of this product. Now, a little goes a long way and it blends in well. Know that the colour is buildable, meaning you can control how dark the application is, quite easily. This is not a product that will leave you with a streak of bronzer on your face that you have to work hard to blend out afterward. This is a tried and true bronzer for a reason, and I know how much I love mine.
This is probably my all-time favourite blush. Though I’m only in my mid-30s, I have had this shade of blush in my makeup rotation for nearly 20 years. This is a colour that never disappoints, and it pairs well with just about any look. MAC describes the colour as a “very baby peach.” To me, it is a little darker than that, but perhaps that’s because I’m quite fair. The pigment is great, as it is very buildable and blends in well. To me, it seems to appear more on the pink side, if you’re wearing jewel tones, and if you’re wearing neutrals or gold, it brings out a more coral colour. This is the blush you need if you don’t know what colour blush to use, or don’t have the time to ponder the perfect shade. Frankly, you would be hard-pressed to beat MAC on blush, because they just make beautiful blushes. This is one colour that everyone should have in their makeup kit, because it just goes with so many looks. It’s a true mainstay. I always buy one ahead, and keep it in the box, just in case mine breaks, or I run out, or MAC might be out of stock, as I never want to be without Peachykeen.
I am always trying to fight the perennially dark circles under my eyes. It is just the way my skin is, no matter the amount of sleep I get, or the litres of water I drink, etc… it has no impact on my dark circles. Now, I have had a great eye cream before, the Tibetan Essence Eye Dark Circle Defense– which was highlighted in of my current favourite beauty products- May 2021 edition; but I still love exploring other products. This is labelled a cream, but the texture is thin and more like a serum. I enjoy the application of this product, as it is in a tube with a little brush on the end. To apply, you turn the dial at the bottom and the product comes up through the tip. You can then wipe it under your eyes, using the brush applicator or brush it onto your finger and then pat it in. I find that this helps brighten my under eye; in fact, when wearing no makeup I got some compliments, about how refreshed I look. I’m not sure if this has any long-lasting impact, but I find that when I apply the product I do get a brightening effect, so it does work immediately. I’ve used it on its own, and under makeup, and either way it’s worked very well for me. This is a product I tend to use during the day and not at night. If I’m home and not wearing makeup, it’s a part of my routine and I also like to put it under my makeup to help brighten that area up. When it comes to covering my dark circles I love IT Cosmetics’ brand Bye Bye Under Eye Full Coverage Anti-Ageing Concealer, it was one of the only two products that you’ll need to cover dark circles. Another reason I like this product is its price point, it is an affordable drugstore product. This proves that hero beauty items do not have to be expensive to work well.
I hope this list of 4 of my current favourite beauty products – the August 2021 edition introduces you to your new favourite product(s) or opens you up to giving an existing product another try. While this list features two of my tried and true, go-to favourites, it also has two newer products, which feeds into my motto of always keeping an open mind to trying new beauty products.
