Whether it’s a new beauty product or tool, I love sharing tips, tricks, and reviews with the people in my life. As a beauty junky I’m always mixing something new into what I’m already using, using what I have in a better way, or rotating products. I like to keep it fresh, so there is always something I’m excited about using. Today, I’m sharing 4 of my current favourite beauty products with you. Welcome to my inner circle.
4 of My Favourite Beauty Products May 2021
Coconut Oil As A Hair Mask:
As we all know coconut oil has 101 uses. I love to use it as a hydrating hair mask prior to washing my hair. Now, since I have fine hair, I tend to avoid putting it right at the root. Also, I like to put the mask on for maximum 15-30 minutes before washing it out in the shower. This short time is so it doesn’t make my hair overly heavy or greasy after washing it out. It’s also great for detangling knots in your hair. If you have very dry or thick hair you could even put a shower cap over your coconut oil soaked hair and sleep in this mask. Sometimes coconut oil hardens, so it’s great to have a spatula or spoon to scoop it out of the container- like the beauty spatula that we featured in our 4 ways to get more out of your beauty products blog. Once you scoop out the coconut oil, emulsify the oil in your hands to heat and melt it before you massage it in to your hair.
Ole Henriksen Wonderfeel™ Double Cleanser:
This Ole Henriksen Wonderfeel™ Double Cleanser is a great smelling fabulous cleanser. This is one creamy, dreamy face wash. The smell is blackberry and I’ve never enjoyed the smell of a face wash more. The Wonderfeel double cleanser lathers really well and it feels luxurious. Your skin feels super clean and soft afterwards. Honestly, it feels like you’ve done a mask or treatment after you use this wash. Try this after you’ve removed your make-up, you’ll be surprised at how much more make-up was left on your skin. It seems like you did a lot more than just wash your face. Want a fragrant face wash that feels extra special and leaves your skin feeling fresh and soft? Try this. It’s a little self-pampering in a tube which fits perfectly with our kinder, gentler, New Year’s resolution.
Tibetan Essence Eye Dark Circle Defense:
The Tibetan Essence Eye Dark Circle Defense cream goes on very well and gives your under eye an instant colour boost – lightening it like a highlight. It’s creamy, so you don’t need to use much. And it actually seems to make a marginal difference in the morning to my dark circles – something that never happens. Covering my dark circles is always difficult- until I found the magic combination of two concealers that changed the game for me, read about that here. The cream is for all skin types and I’ve found this to be true, as it hasn’t irritated my skin. An eye cream not irritating my eyes is a refreshing find. Read about the 4 signs you are sensitive to your eye cream and should ditch it, here.
The Ordinary 1% Pure Retinol:
Retinol helps reduce the appearances of fine lines and wrinkles. Now I’m in my 30’s and I use this preventatively. My mom uses this product too and loves it as much as I do. I use it after I wash my face, use my toner, but before my face creams. I like to put a few drops near where you might have laugh lines at your eyes, frown lines by your mouth, and in between my eyes at the top of my nose; and then rub the excess over the rest of my face. I carefully pat the retinol in, being mindful not to let it get to close to my eyes. This is a treatment you only use at night and don’t want to get unprotected sun exposure when you’re using this. This retinol didn’t bother my skin either- so I do recommend it. I did follow the instructions about slowly working up to using the retinol every night.
These are 4 of my current favourite beauty products for May 2021. You’ll notice that they vary in price point. Products don’t have to be expensive to be good and I don’t care if a product comes from a drugstore or high end boutique. Good products are good products! I share these with you, as I actually use and love them so these are well vetted recommendations. And if you get a sample from a beauty store or a gift with purchase try it, because you never know, it could become one of your new favourites!
