5 Of The Best Eye Creams For Dark Circles

by Elyse V

I make no bones about the fact that I suffer from dark, under-eye circles. No amount of sleep or diet changes helps deal with them either. So, I turn to eye creams for dark circles to help lighten them so I don’t look haggard (regardless if I’m wearing makeup or not). I’ve tried many different creams, and these are 5 of the best eye creams for dark circles based on my experience.

Before you ask, yes, I use under eye concealer and I swear by my two favourites too. However, sometimes dark circles still peak through. Also, an eye cream can minimize them and make you look brighter and more well-rested without makeup. This comes in particular handy for those pop-in visits or last-minute calls that suddenly become video calls (thank you Zoom she says sarcastically).

Keep in mind, that not all eye creams work for everyone. You can read our 4 signs that you are sensitive to your eye cream and should ditch it to help you evaluate new products you’re using. Also, know that price is not a deciding factor on whether eye creams for dark circles will work or not. There are many price points on our list because some drugstore brands are just as good as luxury brands.

5 Of The Best Eye Creams For Dark Circles

PRAI Beauty Ageless Eye Bright Dark Circle Corrector:

This eye cream has a little bit of colour to it so that it helps neutralize dark circles. Not to mention it has hyaluronic acid in it to help minimize and plump the appearance of fine lines. It also helps to de-puff your eyes. Overall, I find this is like putting on a very low coverage concealer. I’ve worn it on its own and under makeup, and the added bit of pigment really can help you look brighter and more rested.

Clarins Total Eye Lift:

This product “combats all factors, restoring radiance to (your) skin at any age. Puffiness and dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles, and even firmness!” So, if you want an eye cream with the texture of a serum this might just be for you. A plus for the Total Eye Lift is that it absorbs into your skin really well- which all eye creams don’t do. Also, it is really hydrating, if you have any dry skin under your eyes or they are getting quite crepey, this targets those kinds of issues as well. Let’s not forget it helps to brighten your under-eye area, as well. If your under-eye is dry, and/or crepey, those are factors that make dark circles look more pronounced.

Neutrogena Rapid Dark Circle Repair Eye Cream:

This was previously featured as one of 4 of my current favourite beauty products – the August 2021 edition blog. This cream has a texture that is more like a serum. The brush applicator can be used to brush the products on your under-eye, or you can also use your finger. Overall, when you use this product, you do look brighter.

Tibetan Essence Eye Dark Circle Defense:

The Tibetan Essence Eye Dark Circle Defence cream is a great eye cream for dark circles. It deposits a very small amount of pigment, so not only does it brighten, but it gives you a little bit of colour to help minimize your dark circles. It is not a concealer though as it doesn’t cover them completely, but it does leave some colour behind. Basically, it isn’t clear like other creams. It is very creamy, so you don’t have to use much of this product.

Clinique Pep-Start™ Eye Cream:

Now, I’m a Clinique superfan and I previously wrote about some of my favourite Clinique skincare products. I say some because nobody has the time to read about all the Clinique products that I love. They describe their pep-start eye cream as providing “a rush of hydration and instant brightening so you look and feel refreshed, wide awake, and ready for anything in as little as three seconds.” The applicator tip helps cool and de-puffs. Also, the peptides “support natural collagen reserves that can be threatened by stress, fatigue, and lack of sleep.” This is great on its own or under your makeup.

This list of 5 of the best eye creams for dark circles will hopefully help you find a product that changes up your regular routine and brightens those under eye areas. I like to cycle through products, and then revisit favourites because I never want my skin to get too used to a product. If you use one product exclusively, it may become less effective over time. That’s why it’s good to mix it up and explore other products and then go back to your favourites. and get the full benefits from them.
