My 5 Favourite Beauty Products – May 2022 Edition

by Elyse V

It’s May. Glorious May. That time of year in between the cool/dampness of April and the official start of summer in June. May is generally known for its blooming flowers and, after today, will also be known for my 5 favourite beauty products – May 2022 edition.

We had a busy April with Makeup Spring Cleaning Steps, and Preparing our Feet for Sandals, and Getting Up to Date on the Latest Makeup Trends. Plus, it was Earth Month and we vowed to take steps to permanently Green our Makeup Routine by being more mindful of the products we use and how we use them where/when possible. We have a few green beauty products in this edition of our 5 favourite beauty products too. Let’s get to it.

My 5 Favourite Beauty Products – May 2022 Edition

Kitsch Extra Wide Spa Headband

This is THE best headband for holding your hair back for any beauty/makeup/skin care step(s) by far. It’s so smart. The fabric is incredibly soft and it is snug enough to stay in place without making your head feel like it is in some sort of vice grip. It doesn’t move out of place either AND it sits on your head like a beanie. The good thing about that feature is that you can gather your hair up in it in the back. It keeps your hair away from your face and any skin care or beauty product allowing you to work on your face without worrying about your hair getting in the way. I could wear it for hours AND it’s made from recycled materials. Can you say win-win?!

Wyld Skincare Konjac Sponge Bamboo Charcoal

Why I love this sponge is because the charcoal makes you feel like you are getting a deeper cleanse, yet the light exfoliation of the sponge keeps it gentle. The end result? A super clean feeling for your skin. You just use warm water to soften the sponge and it’s good to go. With proper use and care, the sponge will last 4-6 weeks. Plus, it’s a great green beauty product to incorporate into your regular beauty routine without compromise.

Crème de la Mer – La Mer Moisturizing Cream

This is one of the more expensive items you’re ever going to find on my favourites list. I don’t believe that cost is tied to performance, but this is some great face cream. I’m talking about the original, so it’s a thick cream that makes your skin feel better after one use. You have to let it melt in your hand first and then work it into your skin. A little goes a long way so, even though it’s expensive, you don’t need much. I first tried this as a free sample that lasted almost four weeks and I was hooked. I found the size I could afford and I use it only on specific areas and it makes me and my skin feel spoiled and loved.

Dr. Mist Lavender Deodorant Spray

If you are looking for a natural deodorant that can last for days, then look no further. It is perfect for all over your body – you can spray it on wherever you might get hot during the summer 😊 It has a mild lavender scent and is anti-bacterial too. This multi-use deodorant spray neutralizes odour-causing bacteria, soothes skin & is safe to use on fabric. Oil-free, stain-free, aluminium-free and alcohol-free so it’s a clean, healthier option.

Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange

First off, Pacifica is one of the great green brands we wrote about and also made this Ultimate Gluten-Free Beauty Brands Guide. This glorious citrus scent is perfect for the warmer months and this portable roll-on fits in any size purse AND is TSA-friendly. These scents are micro-batched in Portland using the best natural grain corn-based alcohol. Pacifica products are 100% vegan and cruelty-free and formulated without: Animal testing, animal ingredients, Gluten, phthalates, parabens, sulfates, propylene glycol, mineral oil, petroleum, peanut oil, triclosan, and other ingredients you do not want on your skin. Another green addition to your beauty regiment that will leave you smelling oh so sweet too.

Wow – I didn’t realize how many green brands/products had crept into my 5 favourite beauty products. Start reading labels. You’ll be surprised at how you can slowly add green beauty products to your routine. That will not be the case every month, but I’m happy the spirit of Earth Month is still lingering in May.

What are your 5 favourite beauty products? How many of your current favourites are green products? Are you slowly trying to add more green brands/products as you replace end-of-life products? Let us know in the comments.
