I believe we should carry the best parts of the previous year with us into the new year. We can use what we learned to make future plans/goals to better our lives in whatever way(s) we see fit. They don’t have to be lofty goals. They can be something very simple like practising self-care daily and/or showing gratitude for the big and small things that make our days better.
With that in mind, we thought it was a good time to demonstrate a little gratitude for the beauty products we rely on to keep us glowing through the winter and through the ongoing pandemic. So, in the spirit of starting the year off right and showing a little love, I’m sharing my 5 favourite beauty products – the January 2022 edition.
My 5 Favourite Beauty Products- The January 2022 Edition
Why talk about sunscreen in January? Because this is your 2022 reminder that sunscreen is important year-round. Sunscreen helps stop the damage caused by the sun and keeps your skin looking healthy, and dare I say, younger. This Neutrogena sunscreen did well in a round-up of sunscreens, which were all fabulous and this one is my favourite. This product absorbs well and doesn’t leave any residue. It also wears fantastic under makeup or on its own.
This sunscreen comes in a small bottle, but it lasts a long time because you don’t need to use much. Please remember to cover your whole face with sunscreen and don’t forget your neck and décolletage too.
Full disclosure, IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Full Coverage Anti-Ageing Concealer is my favourite all-time concealer; however, the Makeup For Ever Ultra HD Self-Setting Concealer is a very close second. It was also one of the only two products you need to cover dark circles. I use the Makeup For Ever concealer like a colour correct under my Bye Bye Under Eye Full Coverage Anti-Ageing Concealer when I need it to stay put and I don’t want my dark circles peeking through. This is especially true for an important event, or if I’m taking pictures, or just something where I know I need to look my best all day long. There are times I have used this on its own and it is a great concealer. It cleans up any smudges and the fall from eyeshadow amazingly well. This is a fabulous product and something that should be in all makeup kits.
If you are looking for a great coverage, well blendable, and long-lasting foundation – this is the one for you. The colour “rose ivory” is an exact match to my skin, and it is hard to find an exact match when you are fair and have a pink undertone. I don’t want it to be too pink or too white or sometimes too yellow. Unfortunately, most foundations look slightly off but not this one. Colour aside, this foundation blends in seamlessly. I tend to only wear this product for special occasions, or when going out or to a meeting. Otherwise, I wear IT Cosmetics CC Cream. There are even occasions where I mix the two because I want a little more viscosity, need a bit more colour on my face or want more coverage for my CC Cream.
This is a very gritty microdermabrasion scrub, and it is very effective. I like to use it only once or twice a week if I’m feeling clogged. The Non-Negotiable Dermappeal Microdermabrasion Treatment was one of our favourite products from The Shopping Channel, because of how outstanding it is. Also, I have gifted this microdermabrasion treatment to people, and they have all fallen in love with the product. It gives your skin a smooth finish, gets rid of dead skin, and leaves your skin feeling softer and glowing.
I have not yet bought this product; however, I got a sample for free in a Sephora order and I was looking for a new brow product. Honestly, I generally don’t really like brow gels/pomades; but I thought I’d give it a chance and I’m so glad I did. I’m going to buy this in my next Sephora order.
I opted for the blonde light brown colour and the taupe blends seamlessly into my eyebrows. I found I can wear this on its own or add some of my favourite Smashbox brow powder over top, for extra oomph. In the past, I have found brow pomades either too dry, goopy, or gunky. This is not the case with Anastasia Beverly Hills DIPBROW™ Pomade.
Don’t be afraid to get samples (or if you have Sephora points, use them to buy full-size samples) of products you may not usually try or buy. Right now, when you can’t (or don’t want to) touch/test products in-person, samples offer you the chance to experiment. I’ve had bad and underwheling sample experiences, but this has been one of my best, and most surprising sample experiences.
