During the summer months (or year-round really) CC Creams and BB Creams are a great alternative to heavy foundations. There are a number to choose from too. The market is flooded with a variety of CC and BB creams, that all promise some pretty remarkable results. Although we haven’t tried all of them, we’ve tried a good number of them and these are the 2 best CC and BB creams we’ve tried so far.
What is the different between a CC and BB Cream? Ingredients and the promise of what they do (depending on the brand). Both offer a lighter option to foundation. BB stands for Beauty Balm or Blemish Balm, as they tend to moisturize and brighten the skin. CC stands for Colour Control or Complexion Corrector. They tend to help with dark circles, redness, uneven skin tone, and in general, they offer more coverage than a BB Cream.

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better™ CC+™ Cream with SPF 50+ is by far my favourite CC cream. I have gotten many compliments when wearing this CC Cream. Like, as soon as I started using this product, I was getting compliments about how flawless my skin looked and my skin wasn’t even in great condition at the time. Suffice it to say, this CC Cream (my shade is light) really hides a multitude of sins.
It also has an SPF of 50, which is much higher than many other similar products on the market. It is truly seven-products-in-one: 1) a full coverage foundation; 2) anti-aging serum; 3) reduces redness; 4) helps dark circles; 5) moisturizes; 6) provides sun protection; 7) performs miracles with how your skin looks. While they say it’s a full coverage foundation, I find it to be slightly lighter coverage than my regular foundation, but not by much. Plus, this CC Cream blends in beautifully, for a flawless look. IT Cosmetics recommends using the CC Cream on your face, neck, and décolleté for a seamless look. It’s going to beautify wherever you use it.
TIPS: 1) When trying/buying a new CC and BB Creams, always check to confirm it contains SPF sunscreen. If it doesn't, then make sure you remember to add a layer of face sunscreen to your make-up/moisturizing process. Actually, that might be a good idea regardless. 2) Don't forget to have sunscreen available to apply over top for touch-ups throughout the day. Reapplication of sunscreen is key especially if you’re in the sun for long periods of time, working in the garden, swimming, or just sunbathing, anything that causes you to sweat.
Pacifica Alight Multi-Mineral BB Cream is a great, light-weight BB cream that’s also easy to build-up. It makes your skin feel amazingly moisturized and gives it a dewy glow. It does not clog your pores and allows your skin to breathe. Pacifica describes it as a multitasking miracle that hydrates, primes, illuminates, and perfects, leaving a sheer bare skin finish and they are not kidding. It delivers all that and more. It comes in three shades (light, medium, and dark) and it has specialized mineral pigments that instantly adjust to your skin shade. If you are unsure of which shade to purchase, get 2 and you can mix it up for your own unique shade. It’s very reasonably priced so doing things like this is feasible.
As with all Pacifica products, it’s all-natural, vegan and formulated with ingredients like floral stem cells, coconut water, and hyaluronic acid. Not to mention it is without talc, parabens, phthalates, or mineral oil. It does not contain SPF so be sure to apply your SPF underneath and over top throughout the day.
Who says round-ups have to be large groups? We believe in keeping it real here. There are only 2 that currently tick all the boxes for us, so 2 is our round-up. We could have filled this list with a bunch of average creams we’ve tried but that’s just not how we do things around here.
