Ted Lasso Season 2 is finally back and I’m so excited.
Ted Lasso Season 1 was one of those shows that I went into thinking “short leash.” While I loved Jason Sudeikis, I wasn’t sure a show about a fish-out-of-water American football coach going to coach a UK Premier football club would be for me. I feared the jokes might be formulaic and obvious. Like just Americans poking fun at the prim and proper Brits and their customs, slang, and pronunciations.
I was kind of not expecting to like it. But Covid was raging and the orange menace was still in office and I was desperate for a laugh or any sign of hope. Jason Sudeikis was there so, I gave it a shot.
After the first episode, I was all in and in love. Ted Lasso was like this massive bright shining beam of positivity and hope during a time that was fairly dark, negative, and helpless. I couldn’t get enough. I counted down the days until the next episode like a jailer in solitary.
The Lasso Way
Here we are a year later and I still am welcoming and ready for some of those Ted Lasso good, positive vibes. It’s the Lasso Way. Ted Lasso is all about kindness and being a decent human being, even when times are hard and things seem bleak. It’s about coming together and supporting each other. Lifting each other up. Making each other better in small, but significant ways.
When we left AFC Richmond at the end of season one, they were sad, but they were sad together. The team faced relegation to a lower league and Ted was looking forward to fighting their way back and “win the whole f*cking thing.” If anyone can, Ted can. If you haven’t seen season one, watch it now. Put whatever hesitation you have aside. You don’t need to like soccer/football. You just have to like experiencing joy because Ted Lasso is pure joy.
You can’t help but love him and Jason Sudeikis is so amazing in the role. He deserves all the rewards he won. The whole cast and the characters they play are incredible too and, happily, they are all returning for Season 2 plus a couple of new additions. We can’t wait. Get the biscuits ready.
Ted Lasso Season 2 Trailer
Ted Lasso Season 2 premieres today (July 23rd) and is available to stream through AppleTV+. The series was already given a greenlight for season 3 and I wish there was 10 more seasons after that.
