I like many people have naturally dark circles under my eyes. Yes, they get worse when I don’t sleep well, but every day no matter what, I have dark circles under my eyes. Since I’m pale this makes me look haggard and exhausted-even when I’m not. As such, I’ve tried everything to cover these chronic dark circles but I’ve found the only two products that you’ll need to cover dark circles.
First off, let’s talk about what I’ve tried. I have tried many different products and some have worked better than others, but they all wore off before the day or night was done. I’ve tried stila Correct & Perfect All-In-One Color Correcting Palette, it worked ok. Maybe on a different skin type or colour it would work better. For me it didn’t help hide my circles well no matter how hard I tried. Another sort of miss was a Bobbi Brown Full-Coverage Dark Circle Eraser. While it did help cover my circles, I thought it went on cakey and didn’t last long.
Secondly, I’ve also tried included using setting powder over concealer or concealer and colour corrector. Yes, I’ve even tried the baking technique (it dried out the under eye area and made fine lines appear).
Thirdly, I have tried so many concealers, it’s mind boggling. The list includes, but is not limited to: Dior, Doll 10, stila, M.A.C, Sephora, Clinique and NARS. I think this makes me a bit of an aficionado on under eye concealer.
So What Does Work To Cover Dark Circles?
IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Full Coverage Anti-Ageing Concealer is the gold standard in my opinion. It doesn’t matter if it is the liquid or more solid version in a pot. I did find that while it covers well, it didn’t hide my very dark circles all day or all night. Meaning, every day my circles would eventually start peaking through. The concealer does work well on its own, but if you need longer coverage I would add in a colour corrector underneath.
Thats why I use Makeup For Ever Ultra HD Self-Setting Concealer under the Bye Bye Under Eye. I know it isn’t technically a colour corrector, but it works beautifully as one. These two products mixed together are an unbeatable team. When I wear them together, they don’t sweat off, they don’t smudge, they don’t look caked on, and they don’t make fine lines stand out. This is perfect for when you are somewhere where photos might be taken, or need to change up your make up to go quickly from day to night.
So these are the only two products you need to cover dark circles. Bye Bye Under Eye and Makeup For Ever Ultra HD Self-Setting Concealer when paired together are able to achieve something no other concealer had been able to achieve in my life: get rid of my dark circles and not have them creep back up. It’s still gratifying and surprising to be asked by strangers, what make up I use for such flawless skin and I’m in my early-to-mid thirties.
I have also written about the best eyeliners for sensitive eyes. It’s all about trial and error. Have you tried these concealer products or have other concealer tips or other favourites? Write a comment below and let us know.
