Urban Decay Naked Palettes Review

by Elyse V

Let me start by saying I like Urban Decay products and I love the cruelty-free values the brand has always stood by. Urban Decay Naked eyeshadow palettes are the darling of beauty enthusiasts, the world over. When new pallets come out they are highly sought after and often sell out quickly. I know what I’m about to say may not be popular but I’m not a fan of the Urban Decay Naked eyeshadow palettes. Here me out because I’m going to explain what led to this Urban Decay Naked Palettes review.

I have always been into makeup so it was an easy go-to gift from my family and friends. I would get gift cards and products for birthdays and holidays and it allowed me to try brands at a youngish age that I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to afford. M.A.C was one of those brands and their eyeshadow was my brand of choice in my late teens/early twenties. I bought the Naked Palettes on two separate occasions and both times I had to return them to Sephora

Why Urban Decay Naked Palettes Review

I’m someone who loves a new palettes and loves to play with it. I also like pigment. No, I LOVE pigment! When I see a colour in a palette, I expect it to be that colour when applied to your eyelid. Yes, you can build the intensity, but it should resemble what you see. I felt that this critical component of a good pallet failed in both of my forays into the world of Naked Palettes. The colours were too muted and didn’t go on true to the colour, in the palettes.

The other quality I hate to see in eyeshadow, is too much fall. Fall is when even though you tap excess eyeshadow from your brush before applying it, you still end up with eyeshadow under your eye and down your cheek. Can you clean the fall up? Yes. Am I ok with a little bit of fall if the pigment is good and eyeshadow blends really well? Yes. However, I felt like there was way too much fall. I think it wastes eyeshadow and to be honest, the shadow wasn’t good enough to overlook the flaw.

Will I ever try a Naked Palette again if I see one in fantastic colours? Sure, I’m open minded. But in my humble opinion, they just don’t live up to their hype. This is not the review I want to give. As I stated, I’m a fan of the Urban Decay brand – their lipsticks are fantastic. However, even the best brands can drop the ball from time to time and I just don’t think their Naked palettes stand up to the competition.
